Learning to write the alphabet is easier one letter at a time. Each of these 26 pages focuses on one letter: children see how it is formed, trace it with dotted guides and then find it among other letters.
What’s on every page
- A big model letter in uppercase and lowercase, with numbered strokes and arrows that show where to start and which way to go
- A picture word: A is for Apple, B is for Bee, all the way to Z is for Zebra, with friendly 3D pictures
- Two rows of uppercase and two rows of lowercase letters to trace on four-line handwriting guides
- The picture word to trace, for example apple, hedgehog or yo-yo
- Find and circle: a row of mixed letters where children circle every uppercase and lowercase match
The 26 picture words
Apple, bee, cat, dolphin, egg, fox, goat, hedgehog, igloo, jellyfish, kite, ladybug, moon, nest, octopus, penguin, quilt, rocket, snail, turtle, umbrella, volcano, whale, xylophone, yo-yo and zebra.
Tips for tracing
- Start with the solid model letter at the beginning of each row, then trace the dotted ones.
- Follow the numbered strokes: 1 first, then 2. Most strokes go from top to bottom.
- Short sessions work best. One page a day is plenty for preschoolers.
- Put a page in a sheet protector and use a dry-erase marker to practice again and again.
- Letter formation can vary between schools; follow the method your child’s teacher uses.
Who it is for
Made for preschool and kindergarten, about ages 3 to 6, and for older kids who need extra handwriting practice. Print at 100% on US Letter paper (A4 works with “Fit to page”). The pictures are in color, the tracing lines are gray dots, so the pages also look good on a black and white printer.
