Fine Motor Activities for Preschoolers

Straight lines tracing worksheet: four dotted lines that lead a 3D bee to a sunflower, each starting at a green dot

Fine motor skills are the small movements of the hands and fingers that kids need for holding a pencil, cutting, buttoning and drawing. Preschool is the perfect time to build them through play. Here are fine motor activities for preschoolers, at home or in the classroom, with free printables.

At what age do kids start fine motor activities?

From toddlerhood with simple play. Preschoolers (about 3 to 5) are ready for tracing, early cutting and dot to dot.
