Build early reading confidence with these free word family worksheets. Read and trace four words in each family, circle matching words and combine a first sound with an ending.
What is inside
- 12 family pages: -at, -an, -ap, -ig, -og, -ug, -op, -et, -en, -ell, -ock and -ake.
- Each family page has a word house, four words to trace, a matching activity, word building and a sentence to read with an adult.
- A cut-and-sort activity and roll-and-read game.
- Two answer pages for adults.
How to use
For ages 4-6 with adult support. Start with the short vowel families; save -ell, -ock and -ake for later. The last group includes longer words and the silent-e pattern. Some pages have a picture word and others have a reading buddy; these are not picture-naming worksheets. Print on US Letter at 100%, or use Fit to page for A4. Pictures are in color; no separate black-and-white edition is included. An adult should supervise cutting.
Keep practicing with pre-k sight words, kindergarten sight words and alphabet tracing.
